Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)

At Afromothers, we believe that mental wellness is as vital as physical health. Under our Health Promotion pillar, the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) programme is designed to strengthen emotional resilience, reduce stress, and support the holistic well-being of children, teenagers, women, and families.

Over the years, Afromothers has implemented extensive activities in mental wellness and stress management, focusing on equipping individuals and communities with the knowledge, tools, and support needed to thrive in challenging environments.

Key Focus Areas of the MHPSS Programme

Stress Management & Coping Skills: Practical workshops, mentorship, and guidance to help individuals manage daily pressures and life challenges effectively.
Counselling & Psychosocial Support: Individual and group sessions facilitated by trained professionals, including counsellors, psychologists, and social workers, to address emotional, social, and psychological needs.

Mental Health Awareness: Community campaigns and educational sessions to break stigma, raise awareness, and promote early intervention for mental health challenges.
Capacity Building: Training for parents, guardians, and caregivers on supporting mental wellness in children and teenagers.
Youth-Focused Initiatives: Special programmes for teenagers, such as residential camps, mentorship, and reflective sessions, to enhance emotional intelligence, resilience, and self-esteem.

Impact and Approach

Our approach combines preventive, supportive, and therapeutic interventions, ensuring mental wellness is integrated into daily life and community structures. By addressing stress, anxiety, emotional challenges, and psychosocial vulnerabilities, Afromothers empowers individuals to navigate life confidently, make healthy choices, and maintain strong mental well-being.
